As early as 2019, the biological soft gel developed by Stump-Franki in a research project was approved for use in Germany. A general type approval has been issued by the German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt). The main application of the biological soft gel is to manufacture horizontal and vertical seals for construction troughs. The fully organic soft gel, which replaces building materials like cement or chemical components, is the first fully biological building material worldwide that is available for sealing applications. One major advantage of the fully biological soft gel is that it can be injected or pumped directly into the ground. It does not cause any negative changes to the ground water, such as increasing pH values or introducing salts or similar.
